President Obama’s announcement of a two-year pay freeze on all civilian federal employees, including those working for the Department of Defense (but not military personnel) would be significantly felt in San Diego. The freeze is expected to result in more than $5 billion in savings for the federal government over two years. According to NUSIPR calculations, it will potentially cost the San Diego Region annually more than $108 million in direct economic impact and $190.3 million in total economic impact.
