It became clear in 2011 that rather than rebounding from the recession purportedly ending in 2009, both local and national economies continue to struggle. The nation has avoided a double-dip recession thus far, yet economic circumstances still remain lackluster. San Diego’s overall economy in 2012 is forecast to have the strongest increase in six years, but the outlook still suggests only modest growth.
