“It was really just a symbolic move,” said Kelly Cunningham, economist with the National University System’s Institute for Policy Research. “They’re just barely putting the brakes on. Right now, price rises are still very slow and stagnant, which could be the calm before the storm. The Fed is looking into the future and knows that there could be high inflation down the road if it is not controlled or if events get out of hand.”
