While this past year brought a sluggish and challenging economic climate, San Diego continues to grow and prosper because of our people, our geographic position, a strong military presence, innovative research and development, and a unique attraction for tourism and conventions. Our region regained about half the jobs lost during the recession, and according to a report from the National University System Institute for Policy Research the overall regional economy is projected to grow in 2012 by about 1.8 percent – the most growth the region has seen in six years.
