Two years have passed since experts declared the end of the Great Recession.
Can you tell?
Halfway through the year, and after an unexpected “soft patch” in May, economic growth in San Diego County has been slower than expected. The numbers have prompted experts to readjust predictions of annual gross domestic product growth from modest expansion of 3 percent to 4 percent to very slow gains of 1.8 percent to 2.5 percent. At the beginning of the last decade, the average rate of growth was 5 percent each year.
