The National University System was established in 2001 to meet the emerging challenges and demands of education in the 21st century. The System is uniquely aligned to connect a diverse population of students to a network of innovative educational programs that are relevant to their lives, careers, and the marketplace and are delivered in a format that respects competing life priorities.

Kelly Cunningham, National University System - NO: Arguably, the sixth largest economy in the world could be better off as independent, self-governing state not subsidizing the rest of the nation. California gets back about 80 cents in spending for every dollar paid in federal taxes. Defense spending could be much lower not maintaining the global U.S. military superpower. But much of California’s success comes by accessing the common market and currency of the U.S., including vast financial, population, resources, water rights, etc.
