Looking for a sort of swing or battleground neighborhood, I turned to Erik Bruvold and Vince Vasquez, two of the brains behind the National University System Institute for Policy Research, and Tom Shepard and Jennifer Tierney, advisers, respectively, for mayoral candidates Nathan Fletcher and Bonnie Dumanis.
Vasquez, Tierney and Bruvold suggested Clairemont. Shepard said anywhere in City Council District 7. I went with the majority because it’s a numbers game and District 6 (which includes Clairemont) is evenly split among Democrats, Republicans and “decline to state” voters.
