Study: Freezing federal pay will affect local economy

President Barack Obama proposed earlier this week that all civilian federal employees, including those working for the Department of Defense (but not military personnel) will not receive a pay increase for two years, a move that is estimated to save the federal government $5 billion. According to NUSIPR’s study, this move could potentially cost the San Diego Region annually more than $108 million in direct economic impact and $190.3 million in total economic impact.
